gc house

Year: 2013-2014

Type: Architecture

Client: Private

Location: Italy, Asti

GC is a concept house, inspired by minimalists bricks houses built by the American architect Frank Lloyd Wright and the UNESCO's world heritage surrounding landscape: the Langhe, Roero and Monferrato. Immersed in the hills, where autochthonous vineyards give birth to some of the most prestigious wines, such as Barolo and Asti Spumante, GC house is redesigned, starting from a 1960s abode, contaminated with local materials: Piedmont brick, Sessile Oak and Luserna stone. The client requested to maintain the building structure which inspired the redesign of the ground and first floor spaces in to an intimate, cozy environment.  The improved perception of surrounding nature through the use of natural light, warm colors and high ceiling glasses successfully enabled the client to trade the house with an above-the-average value.
